The Stepford County Railway Wiki has a staff team that serves as a call point as well as dealing with incidents. This page informs you about the roles as well as the current staff team.
Staff Roles
Bureaucrat
Bureaucrats are the highest rank you can get on the wiki. Their roles are the same as the Admins except that they have some extra permissions and that they can promote new users. They manage all staff, including trainees.
Trial Bureaucrat
Their roles are the same as a Bureaucrat. Their trial position indicates that they will be assessed on their performance and skills in this role. The trial period is 1 week and a verdict will be made by the current Bureaucrats as to their promotion or demotion.
Administrator
Administrators help with major incidents and have extra permissions to Moderators. They are able to sort out these incidents quite quickly because of the fact that they can block users. They will be your first port of call for major incidents.
Trial Administrator
Their roles are the same as an Administrator. Their trial position indicates that they will be assessed on their performance and skills in this role. The trial period is 1 week and a verdict will be made by the current Bureaucrats and Admins as to their promotion or demotion.
Moderator
Moderators should be your first port of call for minor things listed on our Policy page. They watch for the recent contributions to the wiki and patrol edits, ensuring their quality. They issue warnings and can deal with incidents by alerting admins or higher.
Trial Moderator
Their roles are the same as a Moderator. Their trial position indicates that they will be assessed on their performance and skills in this role. The trial period is 1 week and a verdict will be made by the current Bureaucrats and Admins as to their promotion or demotion.
Advisor
While Advisors are not officially seen as staff members, they play an important role in our staff team. They assist us with many decisions and are given rollback rights on the wiki. They also gain access to some staff channels on our Discord. More information about the Advisor selection system can be found here.
Wiki Representative
The Wiki Representative of this Wiki helps assist the staff team through their use of tools granted from them being Fandom staff. They won't be as active on this wiki as others but when there are very major incidents, it may be worth leaving a message on their wall. Please note that the Wiki Representative is not part of our staff team, but of Fandom's staff team.
Interviews and selection processes
The Stepford County Railway Wiki has removed staff applications in 2020. Since then, we’ve instead switched to interviews. Most of the time, staff members will select users to give them the opportunity of an interview for the Moderator position, although users may also request interviews themselves. After an interview was conducted, staff will decide if the user should be given a trial position or not.
Administrators are selected based off public votes held on our Discord server. Moderators can send in letters which will be anonymised and then given to the public to vote on. Similar to Administrators, Bureaucrats are elected by the community as well. However, instead of Discord votes and anonymous letters, Bureaucrats are elected on the wiki, and it is revealed who wrote which letter.
Requirements
The current requirements for the Moderator position are:
- Having at least 100 edits
- Having no recent blocks
- Being able to keep up with our quota (30 edits per month)
- Having access to Discord and being in our Discord server
Administrators have to have at least 250 edits instead of 100. They are also required to edit 60 times per month.
