Headcode

Headcode is a very important aspect in the train operation in Stepford County Railway. A headcode is composed of four digits, three of them numerical and one alphabetical. The purpose of headcodes are to identify each train with a code and using them to smooth out communications between the Drivers, the Dispatchers and Signallers. Headcodes weren't in use before V1.0 which made it difficult to communicate. Headcodes were more obvious before V1.0. In V1.1, they became more complex. It is very useful for Drivers to notify Dispatchers and Signallers that they are entering the station(s) they are responsible for. The first digit indicates what type of service the train is operating.

• 9 - Express Service (Some Stepford Express, nonstop AirLink, and skipping Stepford Connect services (not classified as express)) (Formerly 1)
• 2 - Stopping Service (All WaterLine and local Stepford Connect services)
• 3 - Empty Coach Stock (Not in service - While the train moves from the depot to the nearest station) (Formerly 5)
• 1 - Semi-Fast Service (Stepford Express and AirLink services that skip some stations) (Formerly 9)

The second digit is alphabetical and indicates the train's destination.

• A - Stepford Airport Central
• B - Benton
• C - Connolly (Connect before V1.1)
• E - Edgemead
• F - Whitefield
• G - Greenslade
• H - Newry Harbour
• J - James Street
• L - Llyn-by-the-Sea (Leighton Stepford Road V1.1 - V1.3.29x)
• M - Morganstown
• N - Newry
• P - Port Benton
• R - Leighton Stepford Road
• S - Stepford Central
• T - St. Helen's Bridge
• U - Stepford United Football Club

• V - Stepford Victoria

• W - Westwyvern (Whitefield V1.2 - V1.3.29x, WaterLine before V1.1)
• X - Airport Terminal 2
• Y - Berrily
• Z - Airport Terminal 3

The last two digits are numerically ordered, however, a headcode will not overlap with another one in service.

Headcode example: 9X00 (Express train to Airport Terminal 2)

Trivia

• After the Opening of the Llyn Extension, Llyn-by-the-Sea took over the L headcode and Westwyvern took over the W headcode. As a result, Leighton Stepford Road and Whitefield changed their headcodes from L and W to R and F respectively.
• The Headcodes directly affects the train priority and it affects when the Dispatcher will dispatch the train. Late trains will get first priority, then followed by express services (9XXX), semi-express services (1XXX), stopping services (2XXX) and lastly, services from the depot (3XXX), formerly (5XXX).
• R024 is the only route in SCR to carry the 2XXX headcode while skipping 2 stations (Rocket Parade and Millcastle Racecourse).
• R078 and R075 are the only Stepford Express routes which contains 1XXX headcode.
• In V1.4.1, the first digit of Express services' headcode (formerly 1) and Semi-Fast services' (formerly 9) switched places. Because of this, every AirLink routes have headcodes changed. This gets most players very confused.
• Stepford Connect has the 9 headcode, but not classified as express since it skips some stations.
