The British Rail Class 380 Desiro is an electric multiple-unit (EMU) manufactured by Siemens, in use on Stepford Connect. These trains are formed of 3 (380/0) or 4 (380/1) coaches, and cost 1,500 points.

It was released on the 10th of May 2018, as part of Version 1.0.11 and was featured in one of the thumbnails for Stepford County Railway. In the V1.5 update, it became the first train to receive the new Stepford Connect livery.

Trivia[]

  • The Class 380 was the first train to be split into two variants. The variants are numbered as /0 and /1 with the difference being that the /1 variant has one more car, making it a four car train.
  • The Class 380 was considered to be the least used train on Stepford Connect before the next generation upgrade, unfavourable by drivers due to poor modelling, until during its final days as a paper train.
    • After receiving the Next-Generation update this train is being used by drivers more frequently than before.
  • This train was the last legacy/paper Stepford Connect train to be upgraded to Next Generation. This was also be the last oldest non-Houghton Foundry model train. It was the last AC Electric train to not have a visible pantograph.
  • This train has had a Next Generation upgrade sneak peeked with a brand new rebranded Stepford Connect livery, the first train to receive it.
  • The Class 380's door chimes match those of the Class 377, Class 379 and the Class 387.
  • The Next Generation version of this train appears in BanTech's Guard teaser, which showcased the new Guard role working with the Class 380.
  • This was one of the last trains to be upgraded to Next Generation, alongside the Class 165, Class 166 and Class 730.
  • This train became very common after its NG sneak peek, as this train was the first to receive the new rebranded livery.
  • Prior to Version 1.8.3, when approaching Bodin or Coxly, the full message saying "We are now approaching (Station)" could fit on the Passenger Information Screens in this train without scrolling.
    • After the update, the PIS on board was made narrower and the text was made wider, so the message can no longer be displayed in full all at once.
  • This train's cab-window used to be relatively large. This changed when it was upgraded to NGv3, when the size of the cab window decreased significantly.
    • Much like the Class 717, the driver has to be an expert at judging their speed and position on the platform to be able to precisely stop with such constraints.
  • This train is unique for having a tilted cab-end gangway.
  • Former Managing Director Charlie_RBX sneak-peeked this train's upgrade to mesh model on 19/02/22.
