Stop Markers are signs that can be found near the end or middle of all through station platforms and a few terminating platforms (most do not; stop as close to the buffers without colliding with it, or commonly referred to as "eating" it) indicating where specific trains should stop. Some bidirectional platforms have stop markers at each end of the station and some are specific to some trains and services.

Purpose[]

Stop markers provide a way for drivers to stop in a specific location depending on the number of cars in their train. It is important that a driver stops at the proper marker so the train is in an ideal position to let the Dispatchers and/or Guards to dispatch properly.

Trivia[]

  • Most stop markers contain a simple, large "S". These markers should be stopped at if a more specific marker is not present at the station.
  • Other stop markers indicate a stopping position for trains with a certain number of cars. Some show only one number (like 3) while others display multiple (like 4-5).
  • Formerly, stop markers can also show the name of a specific operator that stops there. This could be seen at Platform 2 and 3 of pre-V1.8 Leighton Stepford Road. They were formerly AirLink stop markers but later were for terminating services.
  • There was a unique example of a stop sign at pre-V1.8 Leighton Stepford Road as it was for terminating 3-4 car trains on Platform 2 and 3 which were overflow platforms for terminating trains.
  • Stepford East is the only station with 6-7 and 6-8 stop markers, although no trains longer than 7 cars existed in-game prior to V1.7.2. The first 7-car train, the 5-car HST, was added in V1.7.2.
  • Morganstown has 2-car stop markers for Waterline Shuttle trains. It currently is the only Shuttle marker.
  • Prior to V1.7, the Stepford Connect platforms in Morganstown had stop markers before the buffer itself. This caused a lot of speculation about a possible extension past Morganstown for Stepford Connect, although this was never carried out.
  • V1.7.2 brought unique stop markers for Stepford Express, specifically for the HST, seen at Benton and Westwyvern.
  • V1.8 brought unique stop markers for Class 720 and Class 730 trains. The stop marker is purple with a yellow/black hatched border.
  • In V1.10, 9-12 stop markers were added at Stepford Airport Central and Stepford Airport Parkway, but they are currently not in use.
  • V1.10.7 brought unique stop markers for the Class 158 and the 80x series (Class 801 and Class 802) at St Helens Bridge. Blue coloured and rectangular variants of the normal stop markers were also added to the aforementioned station.
    • Stop markers for the Class 745 were also added at the station, despite the fact that the Class 745 is an unconfirmed train yet to be added.
  • When V1.10.8 was released, the Class 801 and Class 802 both got upgrades. At every through Stepford Express and AirLink stop, dedicated 5-car markers for the Class 801 and Class 802 were added.
