Template:Rank (Improved Again)

A Dispatcher, more commonly referred to as a [DS], is a member role in SCR. Dispatchers play a crucial role in the smooth operation of SCR, as they ensure traffic is consistently flowing as much as possible and all station departures are safe. They can easily be identified by their high-visibility jacket, baton and whistle.

Schedules for training sessions can be found below:

To attend a Dispatcher training you must:

As of January 11th, 2021, there are 5,237 Dispatchers.

Dispatching procedure

Dispatcher/Procedure

History

There were once CD/RA indicators at Bodin, however very few people ever got the chance to use them.

The dispatch process used to be manual and people would constantly ignore dispatchers which prompted the addition of the GUI system which we have in-game today.

As of the V1.1 update, Dispatchers now receive 5 points per dispatched train as opposed to the previous 1 point, due to the complaints of some Dispatchers.

Platform Assignments

Dispatcher/Platform assignments.

Avoiding demotion

  • You cannot climb into gantries, jump over tracks to switch from one platform to another, or train surf.
  • Do not dispatch on a red signal, unless the train has overshot the signal, and/or had a SPAD.
  • You must dispatch between the rear and middle of the car, while positioning yourself to an area where you can clearly see the OFF indicator or signal, unless a Guard is on board.
    • If you're dispatching a 4-car, you must position yourself at the last 2 cars of the train.
    • If you're dispatching a 5-car, you must position yourself between the middle of the 3rd car to the last car of the train.
    • If the train has overshot, you are still required to stand between the rear or the middle of the train regardless.
  • Track walking and trespassing to other parts of the station is prohibited.
  • Do not stand on roofs of stations.
  • Do not wander away from your assigned platforms, or leave the station that you have spawned at.
  • Do not dispatch trains from a different platform to that which you are assigned.
  • Do not board or ride any trains while being in the dispatcher role, unless you were accidentally glitched into the train you were supposed to be dispatching. In which case you should spawn again.
  • Face the direction of where the train is going when dispatching a train without a Guard onboard (i.e. a Driver Only Operated (DOO) train), or face towards the Guard if there is one onboard.
  • You cannot do any "/e" emotes e.g. dancing, while dispatching.
  • If someone is intimidating you, then if you choose to reply, you must do so in a respectful manner. You can also ignore it and report the matter to a Supervisor either by requesting that another user contact one, or directly via Discord.
  • Respect all people, no matter what rank they are.
  • Do not go AFK on duty.
  • All rules that apply to ranks at and below the Dispatcher rank still apply to people within the role. You may get demoted to a lower rank if you break rules.
  • Do not spawn as a Dispatcher with no intention of dispatching trains.
  • If the GUI bugs out, respawn immediately.

Trivia

  • The ability to choose your platforms when dispatching is coming soon, as seen in the roadmap of the game.
  • Some new players may mistake the baton for a magnifying glass.
  • You can try out this role in Private Servers, same as a Signaller and a Guard.
  • The amount of Dispatchers has experienced a dramatic decrease due to the Guard update. It has seen some stabilising in December 2020 though.
  • In DS training you used to have to spawn at Stepford United Football Club before the training began, but in V1.5 it changed to Faymere.
  • Most Dispatchers often dispatch at Stepford East and St Helens Bridge because of how busy they get.
  • If you are in the Dispatcher role, you cannot spawn at some stations such as Starryloch or Elsemere Junction which means that they will never have a Dispatcher. These stations are known as undispatchable stations in the community.
  • The GUI may bug out. If it does, respawn immediately to avoid a report and/or demotion.
