Overview

The Class 185 Desiro is a diesel multiple-unit manufactured by Siemens, in use on both Stepford Connect and Airlink. These trains are formed of 3 or 6 (Airlink double unit) coaches and cost 1125 points (1500 points without discount). The Double Airlink Class 185 can be unlocked after purchasing the single version Airlink train.

Trivia

The Class 185s were not often in service due to its poor texturing. In V1.1, this changed, as they were refurbished and the usage also increased when they were upgraded to Next Generation. However, these trains now have noisy motor sounds compared to the other trains, so they started getting unfavourable again in around v1.3.20.
The Airlink Double Class 185 was the first 6-coach train added into SCR, since the removal of the Class 700.
This is the first train with a double variant.
In real life, these trains are operated by TransPennine Express, and will soon be replaced by Class 68s. Northern had these trains on loan for a bit once, on the Blackpool North/ Windermere/Barrow-in-Furness to Manchester Airport routes, alongside 142s, 150s, 156s and 158s. These were replaced by 319s.
In real life, it is common to see these trains operating in a double configuration.

This was the first train to be on more than one operator at a time, (Stepford Connect and Airlink).
- However, this does not mean you can get both versions with one-time purchase. They are separated into (CN) and (AL), which is not the same in the game code.
- The second is the Class 730 on Stepford Connect and Waterline.

This train, the Class 360, the Class 350 and the Class 323 are the only trains to have a destination sign with green lettering.
There is a 1% chance that one of the 3 car Airlink units can be numbered 185185.
For some reason, the double Airlink Class 185 has the same unit number for both units, despite being different units. This is likely a coding limitation. This also applies to the Class 43, Class 68, and Class 165/1.
The Class 185 is the first train in SCR to offer First Class accommodation. On a single Airlink unit, it is located at the front where you start driving from. On a Double Airlink unit, it is located in the middle.
- Connect Class 185s do not have first class on board.
The Class 185 (Airlink) was the first paper/legacy train in the game to be converted into a Next Generation train with working doors and interiors. The Class 158 and Class 508 were never paper, they were added to the game Next Generation.
- Until V1.3.10, the pre-NG Airlink Class 185 could be seen at Bodin TrainCare.
This is the only train to operate every kind of service/under every headcode - 1 (semi-fast), 9 (fast/Connect semi-fast), 2 (stopper), and 3 (depot).
The Airlink Double Class 185 unit is the longest train in SCR, the other being the Class 43 (if you count the locomotives).
The Class 185 Connect had no seats for the first 36 minutes of its release.
The 6 car Airlink Class 185 is the only train to be announced that First Class is located at the middle.
The Class 185 is the train used in QD training.
The door chimes of this train are not accurate to real life, as the real life Class 185 uses the same door chimes used on the Class 350, 360/2, 380, 444 and 450 but the sound has been edited to produce an unusually low pitch compared to the 'traditional' Desiro door sound.
The Class 185 is the only train to have grey doors and a grey roof on Stepford Connect and Airlink. This makes it unique from other trains.
