Overview

The Class 158 Express Sprinter is a diesel multiple-unit manufactured by BREL, in use on Stepford Connect. These trains are formed of 2 (158/9) or 3 (158/0) coaches, and cost 1125 points (1500 normally).

Trivia

  • This is the first and only Connect train with a 2 coach variant.
  • The Class 158/0 is a 3 car and the Class 158/9 is a 2 car.
  • This train is the first Next Generation train.
  • From May 8th to May 10th, this train could be seen on random routes being operated by beta testers, before they received a dedicated server.
  • In real life, these trains are operated by Abellio ScotRail, Transport for Wales, East Midlands Railway, Great Western Railway, Northern Trains, and South Western Railway .
  • These are the only diesel trains in SCR to have cab-end gangways.
  • The livery of this train is similar to that of the Class 458/0 since the ends are colored blue, however, they are not identical.
  • There are no 2 car stop markers for the Class 158/9 in any Connect platform until V1.4.1, when Benton Bridge has one. Otherwise, it needs at the 3 car marker or at the 4/5/S stop marker.
  • This train wasn't released as a previous generation train with the same livery as the other Connect trains. It was never released before it became the first Next Generation train.
  • When you choose a train, this train's destination is "Stepford Road" instead of "Not in service" like other trains.
  • The Class 158/9 is one of the shortest trains of SCR, alongside the Class 165/0, Class 171 and Class 195/0.
